Sheffield United’s 2-0 victory over West Brom on Wednesday, which guaranteed them second place in the EFL Championship standings, sealed their promotion to the Premier League and their return to the top division.

With three games remaining in the current campaign, the South Yorkshire club officially announced their promotion, joining Burnley in the first place as the two teams received an automatic promotion from the Championship.

Anel Ahmedhodzic and Sander Berge each scored in the second half to give Sheffield a victory after the first half ended scoreless. Paul Heckingbottom’s squad now has 85 points this season, seven points ahead of Luton in third place.

When Heckingbottom took over management of United in November 2021, they were in 16th position. In less than 18 months, he led them to finish sixth last season, and now, if we’re being completely honest, he has led the Blades back to the Premier League.
