Jeannie Mai Jenkins and Jeezy are instilling a strong sense of identity in their young daughter by teaching her about her diverse heritage from an early age.

Jenkins, an Emmy-winning co-host of the beloved show “The Real,” recently opened up about the transformative changes in her life since the series was canceled in April 2022 during a conversation with Jennifer Hudson. Prior to “The Real,” Jenkins never imagined remarrying or starting a family.

“Now I’m a proud mother, happily married, and deeply in love,” she shared on the “Jennifer Hudson Show” this Tuesday. “Life is full of surprises. The most fulfilling part is staying true to yourself.”

In March 2021, Jenkins tied the knot with rapper Jeezy, whom she met on “The Real.” Since then, they have built a life together and welcomed their spirited baby girl, Monaco. This adorable one-year-old is blessed with a mixed heritage, with a Vietnamese mother and a Black father. Jenkins expressed to Hudson how empowering it has been to teach Monaco the importance of embracing her unique identity.

“She possesses a captivating blend of Vietnamese and Black heritage, and I want her to fully comprehend the strength and significance of that as a powerful woman in today’s world,” Jenkins explained.

Jenkins went on to reveal that Monaco gets the opportunity to experience both sides of her cultural background by spending time with each of her parents’ families. While the toddler seems to favor her father, she journeys to the South to bond with Jeezy’s Atlanta-based family. Additionally, the family visits the Bay Area to connect with Monaco’s Vietnamese grandparents.

“I communicate with her solely in Vietnamese, while her father speaks to her in the language of the South. It will be intriguing to see how she adapts,” Jenkins remarked.

In June 2022, Jenkins introduced baby Monaco to the world through a heartfelt YouTube video, documenting her journey into motherhood. The 15-minute video titled “Meet Our Baby, Monaco!” showcased clips from the hospital, capturing the early months of their joyous adventure, including breastfeeding and visits to the grandparents.

During the video, as Jenkins’ mother prepared to bring out Monaco, the child began to cry off-screen. Jenkins admitted feeling nervous about presenting her child to the world, a mixture of excitement and awareness of the sometimes harsh reality outside. However, she bravely pushed past her fears, declaring, “I’m ready.”

“Get ready to meet Monaco Mai Jenkins,” the charismatic TV star announced as her mother, Olivia, brought the baby into view.

This YouTube unveiling not only showcased Monaco but also unveiled the special bond she shares with her grandmother, Olivia. The video depicted Monaco and her grandmother adorably dressed in matching leopard-print outfits and gold head wraps, the first of many coordinated ensembles, as Jenkins revealed during her conversation with Hudson.

“Mama Mai—my mother has claimed her. That baby is not mine,” Jenkins playfully quipped to Hudson. “She belongs to my mom. They go everywhere together, always matching. Right now, they’re probably at T.J. Maxx just down the street if you want to find them.”
