Henrik Stenson has resigned from the DP Global Excursion then it imposed additional sanctions on 26 gamers who competed with out consent in LIV Golfing occasions.

The DP Global Excursion issued bans of as much as 8 occasions and fines as much as £100,000 for each and every match legislation breach.

“It is sad it has come to this, but it wasn’t unexpected,” stated Stenson, 47.

Chatting with Golfing Digest, the 2016 Obvious champion added: “They left me with no other choice so I have resigned. That’s it. I don’t really feel like it will do any good to dig into this too deeply.

“I’m appreciative of what the excursion has accomplished for me over time. However they’ve selected how they need to view the life. And we’ve clearly accomplished the similar. Sadly, they don’t move in combination at this level.”

The DP World Tour’s sanctions are based on individual cases with fines ranging from £12,500 to £100,000 for each breach and relate to the period between 22 June, 2022, to 2 April, 2023.

Stenson said he had not added up the total cost of his fines but added that they were “anyplace between £50,000 and £75,000 in keeping with LIV match”.

He played in four events in 2022 and has played in five in 2023. Two of those were after the 2 April cut-off, although the DP World Tour says “additional sanctions” for events played after 2 April “will probably be thought to be sooner or later”.

Players that have resigned their membership will not be reinstated until they have paid their fine, from which point their suspensions would apply.

Stenson joins Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia and Richard Bland in resigning their membership.

In April, an arbitration panel sided with the Ecu-based excursion in its criminal fight towards 12 gamers who had appealed towards being fined £100,000 and suspended from the Scottish Obvious for taking part in in LIV Golfing’s inaugural match in June 2022 with out permission.
